[греч. Chimaira — мифическое чудовище, имеющее голову льва, туловище козы и хвост дракона]животное, содержащее клетки с разными генотипами. С помощью агрегационного и инъекционного методов (см. агрегационная химера; инъекционная химера) в 1984 г. были получены первые межвидовые Х.ж. — овцекозы; в 1985 г. были получены химерные телята после агрегации половинок 32-клеточных эмбрионов от коров швицкой (бурой) и голштино-фризской пород; в фенотипе Х.ж. сочетались обе масти — бурая и черно-пестрая. Х.ж. не передают потомкам генетическую мозаичность. У них происходит расщепление, как у гетерозигот, поэтому ценные генетические комбинации нарушаются. Однако на протяжении первого поколения хозяйственно ценные признаки Х.ж. поддерживаются, поэтому существует возможность сочетать, напр., как молочную, так и мясную продуктивность.см. также химераТолковый биотехнологический словарь.
